Though this is mostly a fashion/art blog, I've decided to expand it to pleasures of both the auditory and culinary variety...on that note, here is a list of my favorite tunes to date (along with the requisite playlist, for your listening pleasure):
The side-project of NY-based, preppy scenesters Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot, Discovery is a pop-electronic hybrid that still maintains the lyrical genius of the band's original work. Orange Shirt is a fantastic example of the band's new, albeit different, sound.
sidenote***Be sure to download Discovery's rendition of the Jackson 5 classic I Want You Back.
Matt & Kim's album, Grand, has been out since January, but each track is still just as catchy and dance-worthy as when I first heard it. This song just makes me want to cruise by the beach with all my windows down.
- Rachael Yamagata; Elephants
This album is over a year old, but still remains relevant and extremely powerful. Yamagata's lyrics are so powerful and her voice so haunting, you can;t help but play it on repeat.
While I love Natasha Kahn's style and beauty, nothing beats her music. Daniel is supposedly written about a fictional character than Khan fancied as a teenager, but who really knows? Whatever the case, I sure feel like falling in love when I hear it. It's a very warm, very melodic song.
- Kings of Leon ft. Lykke Li; Knocked Up
I love, love, lovvveee Kings of Leon and the only thing that could possibly make them better is a little Lykke Li. This remix is pure perfection.
