oh, Anna.

Her antics are ever-so-hilarious.
Check out the latest here.

I just find these incredibly glamorous in an "I just threw these suckers on" kind of way.

Missoni ad campaign

Photobucket
Ryan McGinly, the man behind the award-winning Wrangler campaign, recently shot model Hanne-Gaby Odiele for the most recent Missoni campaign. I think this ad is perfection-the juxtaposition of the rusty old truck with the nulti-layered, gypsey-esque ensemble is just genius.

McGinley's portfolio is equally striking-here's a sample of some of his Moss shots:

summer love

I was feeling bright today, so I threw on my, ahem, loud, Twelfth Street tiered camisole, my favorite shorts from Zara, an old belt, my favorite necklace (a wooden cross + peace sign), straw fedora, and fringed sandals. Summer feels good.

tunes

Though this is mostly a fashion/art blog, I've decided to expand it to pleasures of both the auditory and culinary variety...on that note, here is a list of my favorite tunes to date (along with the requisite playlist, for your listening pleasure):

  • Discovery; Orange Shirt
The side-project of NY-based, preppy scenesters Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot, Discovery is a pop-electronic hybrid that still maintains the lyrical genius of the band's original work. Orange Shirt is a fantastic example of the band's new, albeit different, sound.
sidenote***Be sure to download Discovery's rendition of the Jackson 5 classic I Want You Back.
  • Matt & Kim; Daylight
Matt & Kim's album, Grand, has been out since January, but each track is still just as catchy and dance-worthy as when I first heard it. This song just makes me want to cruise by the beach with all my windows down.
  • Rachael Yamagata; Elephants
This album is over a year old, but still remains relevant and extremely powerful. Yamagata's lyrics are so powerful and her voice so haunting, you can;t help but play it on repeat.
  • Bat for Lashes; Daniel
While I love Natasha Kahn's style and beauty, nothing beats her music. Daniel is supposedly written about a fictional character than Khan fancied as a teenager, but who really knows? Whatever the case, I sure feel like falling in love when I hear it. It's a very warm, very melodic song.
  • Kings of Leon ft. Lykke Li; Knocked Up
I love, love, lovvveee Kings of Leon and the only thing that could possibly make them better is a little Lykke Li. This remix is pure perfection.

Films

Several upcoming films have caught my eye, but none more than these two. Of course, the speculation surrounding both has been intense but, with Spike Jonze at the helm of one and America's most revered/snarkiest editrix at the center of the other, they are both sure to please.

Enjoy.

ibride

In addition to my fondness for fashion and art, I have a deep, deep love for interiors. Perhaps it is the fact that I was raised by a furniture-store owner, or the fact that I grew up in a home full of light and art, but I simply cannot get enough of quirky, kitschy interior accessories. A few months ago, on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, I fell in love with a French company called ibride. The company designs beautiful and interesting trays and accessories and, nearly four months later, I still find myself lusting after them. These trays are meant to be on display, as their intricate laser-cut edges and gorgeous design cannot be covered up with food.

In addition to their collection of decorative trays, ibride creates insane, one-of-a-kind bookshelves, like this one, titled "Joe:"

Summer Reading

Two forthcoming coffee-table books have caught my attention, and I have a feeling each will be purchased by many a style maven. The first comes courtesy of Street-style photographer Scott Schuman, AKA The Sartorialist. For those of you who frequent his blog, you are well aware that this book has been a long time in the making. While not due until August 12, it can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com.

The second is the one for which I am most excited. Gypset Style documents many art and fashion movers-and-shakers, including Damien Hirst, Jade Jagger and, my personal faves, the Mignot sisters. The book came out on May 1, so snatch up a copy before they're all whisked off in the hands of other stylish bon vivants.

I Want, I need...

I've decided that a two-boot minimum is required for the segue from fall into winter...I know it's a long way off, but this heat wave has me pining for jeans and long layers. These are a definite must-have. I'm saving immediately.
